"Girl Takes Flight" Gets More Literal

I'm not sure, but two years might be a record in the Ignoring Blogs department.  Truthfully, almost immediately after my inaugural post on this blog I accepted the glamorous position of public school teacher, which socially is not unlike joining the witness protection program.

All excuses aside, during our time apart there have been a number of developments in my life that have kept me busy - and I have discovered that the name of this blog has become even more fitting than the day I named it.

When I started this blog I was in the middle of a painful and much called-for divorce - it was my declaration of independence, so to speak.  Since my first post, I have become engaged to a delightful man  - and my life has become infinitely fuller than simply getting to do what I want - which I do.  We have built quite a life together full of family, goofy friends, music, and getting the most out of our community - all of which I'll touch on here, and if you're super-interested you can find on his blog.

One of the greatest joys we've discovered together is travel - and despite my paralyzing fear of flying, we have been to the incomparable Disneyworld twice (I came back the first time with a pretty awesome engagement ring!) and we've seen 4 countries together in the last year.  We've both become travel agents in the hope that we can earn enough to fund more trips and help others have their own adventures, too. I'll catch you up little by little on all of our trips here, and keep you posted as we keep venturing out.  We've also gotten ourselves involved in all kinds of projects and other trouble that I won't be able to resist telling you about, so stay tuned.....
